Intermec

Intermec has been working inside the leading organisations from across the Postal, Transportation, Logistics, Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods and Industrial markets aswell as Governments for over forty years to improve the productivity, quality and responsiveness of their business operations.

Built on foundations of research, development and innovation, Intermec has been responsible for some of the key developments within the Mobility and Data Capture marketplace today. From the invention of some of the first Barcode symbology in the early seventies to the world's first Rugged Mobile Computer with Integrated GPS, the CN3 this year, Intermec has led the way.

For example, this year saw our announcement of the EX25 Scan and Imager Engine, the first Barcode scanner / Imager on the marketplace to read 1D, 2D, Composite and Postal barcodes from distances of six inches to fifty feet, in any direction, allowing organisations to standardise on one single scanning platform, reducing their cost of ownership and increasing user productivity. Furthermore, the EX25 benefits from illumination, allowing reading in near darkness, even for barcodes printed in red ink. Finally, the EX25 is built on proven MEMS technology, which not only has no moving parts for better drop / damage performance, but also improves read speeds. In Intermec testing, the EX25 was five times faster than any other scan engine. Future innovation for this technology includes an integrated “projector”, allowing a 640x480 “image” to be displayed on the item being scanned for visual confirmation or warning, for example. All of Intermec's products for barcode scanning / Imaging, including the CN3, benefit from experience and knowledge of our Intellibeam™ team, who are based in Toulouse, France. To prove this expertise, the EX25 and the team won this years Frost and Sullivan Supply Chain Enabling Technology of the Year award.

In networking terms, Intermec has also taken a leadership position on adopting emerging wireless standards such as GPS, GPRS, 802.11(b/g), 802.11(a) and Bluetooth. For example, our GSM Centre of Excellence works closely with the Network Service Providers across the globe for the benefit of our clients and Partners aswell for our own product development.

So, with advanced and award winning products and services for Mobile Computing, Barcode scanning, Printing, Labeling and RFID aswell as experience in the networking arena, Intermec holds a unique position in the marketplace by offering a complete family of integrated solutions, allowing clients and Partners to experience total peace of mind. To date, over 250,000 systems have been deployed by Intermec and its partners across the globe within clients from across the spectrum, including sixty percent of the Fortune 100 through to small and medium sized businesses.

Our recognised experience of designing, manufacturing and deploying large scale Mobility projects extends not only to the performance, reliability and longevity of our technology but also application tuning, version control, remote device configuration, management and maintenance aswell as cultural considerations, such as bespoke device and accessory design, including for those working outdoors in all weather and climate conditions.

Additionally, Intermec's community includes an ecosystem of Vendors and partners renowned for their products and services.

Firstly, Intermec enjoys multifaceted relationships with some of the leading Vendors in the Information Technology industry. Our relationship with Microsoft extends globally with Intermec reaching the Gold Partner status. This compliments our achievement as their Windows Embedded OEM Partner of Year, our place in the Microsoft Museum in Redmond aswell as technology innovation, including the CV30, which is the first Rugged Vehicle Mounted device on the marketplace to support both Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows CE 5.0. Working with their Mobile and Embedded Devices Group, Intermec participates in Knowledge transfer, product advancement aswell as other dialogue designed to bridge the gap between business demands and technology capabilities in the areas of Mobile Computing, data collection, bar coding, labeling aswell as RFID, in which Intermec is a market leader both in product, service and Intellectual property terms. Intermec also enjoys similarly high level relationships with Oracle and SAP.

Additionally, recognising networking and security is central to any Mobility solution, Intermec significantly benefits from its comprehensive relationship with Cisco. To exhibit this, Intermec has again this year won Cisco's Solution Technology Integrator Partner award, which is our second year in a row. As with Microsoft, not only does Intermec continue to drive knowledge transfer, we participate in Cisco's Solution Technology Integrator Programme on behalf of both our clients and partners and also actively contribute to the Cisco Compatible Extensions Programme, which allows us to incorporate and embed wireless technology into our Mobile Computing offerings.

Intermec is proud to be a stable, mature, independent, people driven, business user focused manufacturer of Ruggedised Mobile Computers, Barcode scanners, Printers, Labels and RFID technologies.
